Wednesday after school programming begins September 25th!

September 18, 2019

Hi everyone!

It’s just about time for us here at First Baptist to begin this year’s Wednesday programming. We are excited to tell you we are both keeping many of the things the students loved last year, and adding new and exciting offerings.  We hope to see you there!

Details:

Meet in the Fellowship Hall, in the back of First Baptist Church, 808 High Street, in Westwood.

1:30pm-3:00pm on early-release days, beginning September 25.

Activities geared for grades 6 and up.

New this year:

Students will have the option of two tracks: either the baking and community service track (like we did last year); or join our new junior handbell group and learn to ring handbells from our handbell director, Peter DeReyna.

Plans:

Here are some tentative plans for the fall term:

9/25     Intro to bells, baking ‘musical rice cereal treats’

10/16   Begin animal shelter project, baking; bells

10/30   Halloween party; bells

11/6     Animal shelter project and visit from animal shelter volunteer; bells

11/13   Make cookies & cards for WW Senior Center; bells

12/4     Bell concert and cookie/card distribution at WW Senior Center

12/18   Flower arranging

What you can do now:

  • Fill out the permission/registration form, attached, and send it in with your student. (Forms will also be available to send home on 9/25.)

  • Collect old, clean towels or blankets which can be donated to the animal shelter. These can be brought in beginning 10/16, and will be given to the animal shelter 11/6.

  • Spread the word! Tell your friends and neighbors! We have room for more!

  • If you know your students are participating, email me so we can begin to plan for snacks.

Looking forward to seeing everyone soon!

Peace & Joy,

Pastor Steph
